It has been almost 6 months since I sprained my ankle. Not only was it PAINFUL, it was devastating. I had just begun the "Couch to 5K" running program and I was doing REALLY GOOD! As a matter of fact, I specifically remember that the split second before I fell and twisted my ankle, I was SMILING while I ran. Uggg. So, I think my ankle is sufficiently hilled to start running again. I love the COUCH to 5K program and couldn't wait to begin again.
Couch to 5K is an interval running program in which you slowly build up to running 5K, using walking and running intervals and gradually increasing the amount of time you run. Before, I would have my IPhone with me and use the stopwatch feature on it in order to know when to walk or run. It was "okay" but I wasn't able to really just enjoy the run and my music. LUCKILY, I found this nifty new Couch to 5K iPhone application... it is by Felt Tip, Inc.
You simply turn your music on, then you switch to the application and press start. A male or female voice very briefly interrupts your music to tell you when to run or walk...then your music comes back on. NO MORE STARING at the stopwatch!
I started yesterday and it felt great. Of course, my awesome new Mizuno running shoes helped alot! (LOVE THEM!)
I will let you know how the program goes. I'm not asking you to be impressed....because believe me, I still resemble PHOEBE when I go for a jog. It ain't pretty...but it sure is fun
